Creative freedom and what's next?

 Defining the boundaries of creative search was not always the artist's sovereign decision. In the history of art, these borders most often resulted from the generally prevailing canon or the current style.

In the art of the second half of the 20th century, the change of artistic trends and tendencies is gaining speed. These changes mainly concern new areas, expanding boundaries and giving them new ways of imaging. Each field of art is  a new boundary, a new area of ​​search is finally a new way of perceiving. Discovering and exploring the borders of art was one of the slogans of avant-garde artists. The most important was what was new. In the art so far, the avant-garde were individuals. Now every direction in art has become avant-garde. The creator became free from formal restrictions. It was the period of one big artistic laboratory.

When creative freedom was won, it is difficult to talk about styles and directions. The artist is no longer in harmony with time, being in the avant-garde. Individualities began to count more. The artist bases his activity on his own sense of art. There has been a period of moderating , but the question "what next?" Remains valid.

And what if such a new path in the field o art was to mark the largest possible area of ​​search? The artist would become a medium to convey all areas of perception. Simultaneous perception, e.g. glass, also means smoothness of touch, pain of cuts, division of space, color, transparency, as well as the sounds of broken Glass. The method of simultaneous perception is a method of associations, experiences, dreams, intuitions and emotions. An unlimited area of ​​perception. Doesn`t making use of this metod cause chaos? You can control it due  to experience and intuition.

The area of ​​activity is defined.There is one  more really important thing. The imaging method, i.e. form. This, however, cannot be determined by theory. The basis for building a message is practice.

All experiences of the latest art give a good foundation, a good starting point. Experiences of contemporary art have given new opportunities, and above all they have given freedom to choose the creative path. To the question "what next" I answer: use this freedom.

Against this background represented in form of symbols   thrown up  hands. After sketching and applying the first layer of paint: banality, daub. I laid the canvas on the floor and I started  spilling the  paint on it watching carefully what was going on. It moved like a living being, like a human, it changed from second to second. Stefan Bech's woodcuts

I was recently browsing   the shelves  in my library. In  search of publications about  exotic art, I found, squeezed between books, a  position  non-exotic at all.  It was portfolio with Stefan Bech's woodcuts  published  in 1960, exactly sixty years ago.  As it  usually happens , not each of the works placed there  represents  a high artistic level. However, their true beauty comes  from the author's passion. The beauty that Stefan Bech was able to see in  no longer existing parts of our city.   Most of the woodcuts are works captivating with the balance of black paint and, unfortunately, a bit yellowed white. However, this does not interfere with  the perception.  Mellowness  makes them  even more interesting. I did not count how many  ectypes of woodcut  there are in  the portfolio - maybe it is incomplete.
